Why I am starting this blog
Most of what I know about running networks came from other people’s write-ups — a forum thread from 2014, a vendor mailing-list post, a colleague’s runbook someone forwarded me. Rarely from official documentation. This blog is me paying that back.
What I’ll write about
The day job is building and operating networks across a lot of geographies — multi-cloud backbone, BGP policy, and the automation that keeps a sprawling multi-vendor estate honest. That last part is where the interesting problems live. Not “how does BGP work” but:
- Why a route that looks correct in
show ip bgpstill doesn’t get used - What breaks when your source of truth disagrees with the devices
- How to roll out a change to 11 sites without holding your breath
What this isn’t
Not a beginner tutorial site. Not a vendor fan page. If you’re looking for “what is a VLAN,” there are a thousand better resources, and I’ll link them when relevant.
How it’s built
git clone <your-repo> blog
cd blog
npm install
npm run dev # http://localhost:4321
Then write a Markdown file in src/content/blog/, push, and it’s live.
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| Posts | src/content/blog/*.md |
| Site title, socials | src/consts.ts |
| Homepage | src/pages/index.astro |
| Domain | astro.config.mjs |
Posts are plain Markdown in git, which means the history of what I thought was true in 2026 is still there in 2029 when I’ve learned better.
